GLP-1 & weight-loss medication support
Lose the fat.
Keep the muscle.
Ozempic, Wegovy, Mounjaro and Zepbound take weight off fast. Training with Damian makes sure what comes off is fat — and that you are strong enough to keep it off.
The part nobody warns you about
Weight isn't the same
as fat
The scale drops fast on a GLP-1. But rapid weight loss of any kind costs lean tissue as well as fat — and without resistance training and enough protein, a meaningful share of what you lose is muscle.
Muscle Goes First
Lose muscle and you lose the engine that burns calories all day. That's what makes weight easy to regain later.
Strength Slips
Energy, balance and everyday strength fade with lean mass — a real concern for clients over 50.
The Taper Test
The medication ends eventually. Muscle and habits are what decide whether the result holds.

The program
How Damian trains
GLP-1 clients
- Strength work, two to three times a week. Progressive resistance training is the signal that tells your body to keep the muscle.
- Protein at every meal. When appetite is gone, the food you do eat has to count.
- Smaller meals, more often. Practical direction for eating when nothing sounds good.
- Sessions scaled to dose days. Low-energy week? The plan flexes instead of breaking.
- Habits that outlast the prescription. The goal is a body that holds the result on its own.
Eating on a GLP-1
What to lean on,
what to go easy on
General, practical guidance from three decades of coaching — not a clinical meal plan. Your appetite is suppressed, so quality matters more than ever.
Lean on
- Protein first — eggs, chicken, fish, Greek yogurt, cottage cheese.
- Water and electrolytes throughout the day.
- Vegetables and fruit for fiber and digestion.
- Small portions, eaten slowly and more often.
Go easy on
- Fried and very greasy food — a common trigger for nausea.
- Large, heavy meals, especially late in the day.
- Ultra-processed snacks and sugary drinks.
- Alcohol, which tends to make side effects worse.
Everyone tolerates things differently. Damian will help you spot your own triggers — and your doctor or dietitian stays the authority on anything clinical.
Questions
GLP-1 training, answered
Can I do personal training while taking a GLP-1 like Ozempic or Mounjaro?
Yes — and it's one of the best things you can do alongside the medication. Resistance training signals your body to hold on to muscle while you lose weight. Damian scales the work to how you actually feel, including lower-energy days after a dose.
Will I lose muscle on a GLP-1 medication?
Some muscle loss is common with rapid weight loss of any kind, not just medication. Research on fast weight loss consistently shows that without resistance training and enough protein, a meaningful share of what you lose is lean tissue rather than fat. Strength training two to three times a week is the most reliable way to protect it.
How often should I train while on a weight-loss medication?
Most clients do well with two to three strength sessions a week. That's frequent enough to protect muscle without overwhelming you during a period when appetite and energy are lower than normal.
I have almost no appetite. How am I supposed to eat enough?
This is the most common issue Damian hears. The approach is simple: make the food you do eat count. Protein first at every meal, smaller portions more often instead of three big ones, and easy options ready in advance for days when cooking feels like too much.
What foods should I avoid on a GLP-1?
Many people find that fried and very greasy food, large heavy meals, ultra-processed snacks, sugary drinks and alcohol make nausea and stomach discomfort noticeably worse. Damian will help you spot your own triggers — everyone's tolerance is a little different.
What happens when I come off the medication?
That's exactly what the training is for. Muscle you keep is muscle that keeps burning calories, and the habits you build while on the medication are what hold the result afterward. Clients who train through the process are in a far better position when they taper off.
Does Damian coordinate with my doctor?
Damian works alongside your prescriber, never around them. He doesn't prescribe, adjust or advise on medication — your doctor handles that. Tell him what your provider has advised and he'll build the training to fit it.
Is Damian a doctor or a dietitian?
No. Damian is a certified personal trainer and strength & conditioning coach with 31 years of experience. He offers training and general, practical guidance on eating — not medical care, prescriptions or clinical meal plans. Keep your doctor and any dietitian in the loop.
An honest note on scope
Damian Churchill is a certified personal trainer and strength & conditioning coach — not a physician, pharmacist or registered dietitian. Nothing here is medical advice, and Pure Fit Inc does not prescribe, supply, adjust or advise on any medication. Decisions about GLP-1 medications belong with your prescribing doctor. Damian's job is the training, and general practical guidance around it, alongside the care your medical team provides.
